Notes: From the artist: Originally a red / pink flower, this plant was from Burncoose Nurseries, Caerhays Estate, Cornwall. ‘Altona’ has a long tipped serrated leaf with bronzy colours and red edges, which are similar to the characteristics of Hydrangea serrata. This flower is blue in acid and alum enriched soils.

Notes: This is the first print of Doughty's nature printing process seen at the Nature Printing Society (NPS) annual workshop (1986). Prior to this workshop NPS nature printers always inked with soft rubber brayers. Doughty's use of foam and fabric covered dabbers produced more solid and uniform inked plants.
