Notes: ''Nutka.'' From Nootka folder. On sketch paper. "The sketch is evidently from the hand of the artist Echeverría. I can only suppose that the plant was encountered in 1791, when the botanists and artists were traveling in the Sierra Madre Occidental, and that the drawing was kept by Mociño or Echeverría during their trip to the Pacific Northwest in 1792, and subsequently confused with the other drawings made by Echeverría during the same trip." according to Rogers McVaugh, Botanical Results of the Sessé & Mociño Expedition (1787–1803): VII.
